why are the right hours not showing

T

i am just trying to recreate another's project and im not getting the same
numbers.
the hours worked is different and the finish date is different.
the hours worked is different even though im using the same resources
assigned.
the finish date is different even though im using the same calandar.
what is going on with these discrepancies?

Your post leaves a lot of questions open. How exactly are you trying to
recreate it?

If the hours planned are different in the two projects, then that can
only be because they were entered or imported incorrectly. How did you
enter the planned hours?

Similarly, if the actual hours are different, then they must have been
entered or imported incorrectly, so where did those figures come from?

If the amount of work in the two versions differs, then it is hardly
surprising that different dates are calculated.

Are you using a resource pool so that the use of resources in one
project in a given timespan excludes them from being used in the other?

its a piplener project and im recreating it the way he did except one thing.
in his resource sheet he assigned resources for everytime he needed one.
for example 4 foreman would be forman 1, 2 etc., and i am using one and
applying 400% in the units

i just entered a duration, and assigned the same resources as he, just a
different way.

im not clear on actual hours either?

I still think that we need more detail. You say you entered a duration
and then assigned resources to the task. So is it the case that you
want that resource assigned at the default level? In what you have
described so far, you haven't described entering hours. If you enter
the hours that should be worked for each task by each resource, then
Project will correctly record that.

The finish date may well be different not only because of the hours but
also because of the way you have entered the resource essentially as a
single entity.

In order to get the amount of work right in your plan, split the window.
By clicking on each task in turn in the Gantt chart area, you can
adjust the amount of work assigned to each task in the lower pane. It
is probably best if you make each task to be of fixed work type. You
will probably also need to adjust the duration of tasks during this process.

After this, the amount of work in the plan will be correct.
