Why does the formatting change when I e-mail a template?

If I e-mail the template in it's original form then the formatting appears
fine on the sent e-mail. When I simply change the content...not any of the
spacing of columns or anything like that, then the sent e-mail has a
different format. How do I fix that?

What application did you use to create the template? Are you attaching
the template as a file attachment? What version of Office are you
using?
