Why doesn't Import File appear as an option on my PowerPoint Edit.

I am trying to import an Excel speadsheet into a PowerPoint presentation.
The Help instruction say to use Import File on the Edit menu, but there is no
Import File command on my Edit menu.

To import an excel spreadsheet into power point goto insert>>Object. Click on
the create from file button on the left. The click browse and select your
excel sheet.Then click ok.
