Why is my message body blank when Outlook is used by another prog.

I have outlook as my default email client but when I try use an application
that brings up the client with a message body, my message is blank. If I
send it, the recipient sees the body that was not visible to me. If I edit
the message body in anyway, it is blank when it reaches the recipient except
for my edit.

I have collegues that are using the same versions of applications that I am
(Outlook and the one that uses the default email client) and they don't have
this trouble.

Using Outlook 2003

Update...

When I try to insert item and insert the text only option (not the
attachment option), the body of the email is blank. This happens on
collegues machines as well. Bug?

I can't find anything about it on Microsoft's knowledgebase.
