Why my 2007 Excel has stopped working ? Couldn't open it !

Recently, I found out that when I tried to open an Excel file, it failed to
do so..
Just couldn't open any files in excel format... What's the main problem of
it ?
I've run the Microsoft Diagnostics but no problem was found.. Please help...
I need to use excel for assignments ... Thanks
