Will installing Office 2003 over Works destroy the Works programs

My Mom uses Works for word processing and other applications. I bought
Office 2003 for her, and I want to make sure that installing Office 2003
won't destroy or disable the Works programs. Also, will Word 2003 convert
old Wordperfect files?

Although this Microsoft Knowledge Base Article says "earlier versions of Office are removed during the setup
process" in the title, it does apply to Microsoft Works and Microsoft Works Suite.
