Will not open a document when doc clicked

When I click on a document, Word comes up with a New document; not the
document that was clicked!

Any suggestions?

Any document. I have checked to association of file types for ".doc"
and it is set to MS Word.

Also, I looked at the registry and everything looks the same as my
notebook which does bring up MS Word when I click on the doc file.

However, I noticed other items under the ".doc" on my notebook: the
association with GUID's e.g. {xxxxxxx}.

Did you ever have another edition of Office installed on that computer?
Could it be that your file association is looking for Word 2002 and you use
2003?

I believe this what happened when I installed Word 2002; believe I had
2000 before. However, I went through a reassignment of FileType hoping
it would do it. I'll try a full uninstall and reinstall.

Just make sure that your file associations are set for the correct version
of Office.
