Windows cannot find ....

I save my documents on my E drive, not my C drive. When I try to open a
document from the E drive, I get the following error message: "Windows cannot
find 'E:\filename.docx'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try
again." At this point, Word is open (but not showing a blank page or
anything).

However, If I open Word first and then open the document from there, it
opens up just fine.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Most commonly, this is the Anti Virus integration in Office. But confirm is
it ONLY when you open a document from E drive and is E drive local or a
network drive? Which AV do you use?
