With frames, how to control which frame is printed by the browser <Print> button

Some times the contents frame is printed, and other times the body is
printed. I want only the body frame to be printed when using the browser's
print button.

Welcome to frameset hell. This and many other 'gotchas' are the main reason
why most people need guns at their heads to even consider using frames.

Sorry, but the only way to control which frame prints (that I know of) is to
click in the frame (i.e., give it focus) before triggering the print.

But the Print button won't work well with a non-frames design, because the
print button will print both he header and the contents as well as the
body

Not if you learn how to use a print stylesheet.
More over, there's a good chance
you'll never be able to print the right side of the body.

Not if you control the maximum width of your content, or use a print
stylesheet.
What are some of the gotchas I'm likely to encounter before I throw out
frames, kicking and screaming?

Here's a good list -
