Word 07 Save checks in to Sharepoint

Sometimes when I save via ctrl-s, my document is also checked in to
Sharepoint. This is despite the fact that I have selected Word
Options->Save->Save checked-out files to: "The server drafts location on this
computer."

Is this just a bug? Any help? I'm not sure what version of sharepoint
server it is.
