Word 2000 Windows

I've just had W2k forced on me at work, instead of
Word97. I can't find a way to stop word opening a new
document in a new window, instead of in a daughter window.
Surely there's a way to do this? I'm running NT4.

Thanks

Hi Mike

I don't think that there is a way to stop the new documents from opening in
a new window. It took me a while to get used to all the new windows, but as
with any new software you use lots, you do get used to it.

Suzanne - got it. Largely solves it- but it's not perfect.

Why did MS scrap the very good MDI? It's much more
convenient than SDI.

Many people actually prefer SDI. I know I do; I'd already been intuitively
reaching for the Taskbar when I wanted to switch documents. In Word 2002 and
above, you have the option to revert to a semi-MDI. And I'm told that in
Windows XP the logic of SDI really becomes apparent (because of the way XP
can handle windows on the Taskbar).
