Word 2003 - how clear most recently accessed documents?

I have Word 2003.
How do I go about clearing out the most recently used/accessed Word
documents listed in the File menu?

Walter,
Use Alt+Ctrl+-, this should give you a thick black line. Now choose File and
click with the thick black line on the documentname you wish to delete. Be
sure not to click to soon as this will remove everything you click on.

Holy Blackout, Batman!!!

What the heck is that "thick black line"? After I saw what it did to
selected recently used files, I was afraid to get it close to anything
else. What else can it do?

What is it called?

Is this documented anywhere? (ha-ha)

Greg Maxey calls it the Terminator Hyphen. The command it runs is called
ToolsCustomizeRemoveMenuShortcut. It's good for only one use, after which it
is "used up," and you can dismiss is with ESC, but you are right to be wary
of it! A lot of users lose the Symbol item from the Insert menu as a result
of it. The shortcut for an en dash is Ctrl+Alt+NumMinus (that is, the minus
sign on the numeric keypad), but if users interpret this as Ctrl+Alt+Hyphen
and don't get an en dash, their next resort is to click on Insert | Symbol,
and bang! they've deleted it!
