Word and Excel not opening, but Entourage does

Hello,
Not sure which versions of Word and Excel I'm running but the Entourage version is 10.1.0 and I purchased MS Entourage all bundeled together with Word, Excel and Powerpoint. I went to open a new Excel document and the program looked like it was starting but just closed again before displaying a new blank Excel doc. Word and Powerpoint are behaving the same way. Entourage is opening just fine, all the data seems to be there and I can enter and save new data. I can even open an old Word or Excel file, open a new document from within the current document, then save and reopen successfully. I deleted my shortcuts on on the task bar and the Applications still won't open from the Finder. Any ideas? Thanks, Scott

The first thing you need to do to update your end of life software is to
update it to the last version released 1/5/2007.

Microsoft Office v. X for Mac 10.1.9 (This update includes all of the
improvements released in all previous Office v. X updates.)

I would also advise downloading the latest Apple combo updater and run it.
It will refresh all your files. Even if you have this version installed,
it's often a good idea to run the combo to refresh files.

Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update
(For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )

BTW, how much free space and total space is on your hd? Open the Activity
Monitor and click on the Disk Usage tab near the bottom of the window to
find this info.

Let me know if this helps.
