Word auto complete

How can I stop word from adding on the current date to the year
automatically? There is a get round of putting in a space and then deleting
it but this is too longwinded for large numbers of dates.

From Word 2003 Help: When the AutoComplete feature is
turned on, Microsoft Word will display a ScreenTip when
you type the first few characters of an AutoText entry, at
which point you can insert the entry or continue typing.

On the Insert menu, point to AutoText, and then click
AutoText.
Select or clear the Show AutoComplete suggestions check box.

It's a pity to have to switch off "Show AutoComplete suggestions" and the option of rejecting the AutoComplete suggestion by continuing to type is inconvenient :

For example, if at the head of a letter you type '8 February 2005' without
any further characters but followed by 'ENTER' you get the following result:
'8 February 2005-02-08'
The only way I can find round this is, as gNick says, to type a space after
the year and then delete it. It seems clumsy to have to do this.
Is there any way to suppress just the particular Autotext suggestion that
comes up when the current year is typed?
