Word Crashes on Macbook Air

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I just installed the update for Office-Mac on my Macbook Air(SSD Drive) and suddenly have crashed Word twice. Both times when I was composing a new doc and writing and the program suddenly froze and became non-responsive so I had to force quit both times---relatively early in the doc so nothing major. Only other program open was Firefox.

Assuming you mean the 12.1.2 update? Did you repair disk permissions after
applying it?
