Word document compressed Tahoma font all into 1 space

This was bizarre because it happened while I was watching it.

I opened a document to make a correction and reprint it. After I made the
change the words all compressed into 1 space. I was able to restore it by
changing the format, including changing the font to Arial. After that I
changed the font back to Tahoma and it compressed it all again. I opened up
another document, changed the font from Tahoma to Arial and back to Tahoma
and it didnt have any problems. I attempted to copy the info into another
document but it continues to do the same thing.

Does anyone have any idea why this would happen and how to fix the document
so it accepts Tahoma without compressing it again?

I've never encountered that. If you'd care to email it to me, I can take a
look (I love a good mystery). Send to problem(at)thetysons.org, if you care
to (replacing (at) with @).
