I have a weird problem with Word. I have the same
problem whether it's XP or 2003 version. I recently had
to move a users documents and settings (using the dsft
wizard in winxp) to a new computer since the old laptop
motherboard died. On the new computer, I pulled the new
settings across (i upgraded to office 2003 also). Well,
word started locking up the computer. Hard lock. No
mouse movement, ctrl alt del, nothing.. had to hold down
the power button to shut it down and reboot. I first
noticed this in Outlook since it was using word as its'
editor. Well, narrowed the problem down to word. I
figured the settings got hosed when upgrading to 2003. I
downgraded to XP. I formatted and tried duplicating his
prior setup with office XP. Still, same problem. Ok, so
i figure his settings from the last computer are causing
it... so, i recreate his settings (i still had his last
hard drive intact and put it in my identical model laptop
to pull them off) without the word settings. Still,
having lockups in Word. I've tried everything I can
think of short of telling him he can't have his old
settings (which would be verrry bad in his mind... he's
the CEO, so I wanna try to keep him happy). Thanks for
any help!
