Word Not Responding

Any time I try and perform any function (Bolding type, underlineing
saving, printing, etc) the program crashes and says that it's no
responding. This has only been happening the last couple of weeks.
Suggestions

mess following the instructions at
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm before restarting
Word.

Sorry, but your suggestion didn't help. Word starts up just fine. bu
when I attempt to do anything, it freezes completely.
I've tried going into my registry and deleting my data file, to n
avail.
I've tried to update my Word, but everytime I try, it says I need a C
with Microsoft Publisher 2002. I don't have that CD

You need to check out *all* the processes in both links.
Frankly I don't see what Publisher has to do with Microsoft Word - the two
applications are unconnected.
With the Word CD available attempt to repair Word from control panel > add &
remove programs.
