Word opens with an old document

Hi folks,

I am confused (how do you do). I have word installed on my pc, whenever I
open a new document and whenever I open Word it opens with a document I made
ages ago. I have to select all / clear to create new documents.

Anyone know anything about this?

PS it only happens on my girlfriends account not mine.

Thanks, this was definitely one of those slap the forehead "of course"
moments.

Rather more bizarre is that when I changed the normal dot, the background of
the page looks like wallpaper....a theme has not been applied. Any
thoughts?

What sort of wallpaper? Have you changed any of your Windows Appearance
settings? Are you seeing a grid?

Hi Suzanne,

It looks like speckled paint....but it disappeared when I renamed the
normal.dot rather than just trying to edit it. still it was odd.
