Word to PDF

I have a large number of Word Docs that I need to share with people who do
not have Word. There fore I wish to convert to PDF, however many have a
background colour which does not transfer to the PDF document. Can you please
suggest how I can achieve this without purchasing Adobe Acrobat?

I am using Office 2008 and the documents are in Word 97-2004 format.

The Backgrounds applied using Format> Background are intended for web page
documents only. There's no guarantee the backgrounds will appear as
preferred even if printed [or saved as PDFs] using Word 2008. In order to
include them in the PDF there are 2 settings in Word> Preferences:

In the View Preferences make sure that 'Background colors & images in Print
Layout View' is checked,

In the Print Preferences make sure 'Drawing Objects' is checked.

It may also be better to use the File> Save As - PDF method rather than
generating the PDF from the Print dialog.

I had the settings as suggested but went through the process again and
unfortunately the same result. No colour in the resulting PDF.

Then it's possible that you're lacking current updates for:

OS X
Office
Your printer driver

Hello,

I just had the same problem as the previous poster and a web search brought me to this solution.

I changed 'Background colors & images in Print Layout View' to be checked and it worked!

Thanks very much!

Susan
