Here is some insight to the character Miss Perspicacia Tick.
Who is Miss Perspicacia Tick?
Miss Perspicacia Tick, a witch of some renown, is worried about a ripple in
the walls of the universe - probably another world making contact. Which is
not good. This errant activity is centered on some chalk country - where
traditionally good witches simply do not grow well.
Miss Perspicacia Tick is a character in one of Terry Pratchett's books.

Some things start before other things.
It was a summer shower but didn't appear to know it, and it was pouring rain
as fast as a winter storm.
Miss Perspicacia Tick sat in what little shelter a raggedy hedge could give
her and explored the universe. She didn't notice the rain. Witches dried out
quickly.
The exploring of the universe was being done with a couple of twigs tied
together with string, a stone with a hole in it, an egg, one of Miss Tick's
stockings (which also had a hole in it), a pin, a piece of paper, and a tiny
stub of pencil. Unlike wizards, witches learn to make do with a little.

Me to a T?! That's Miss T to you, thank you! My hair is short and spikey, I
don't have kids (because I can't - and Goddess knows the number of times
I've tried to fall pregnant). I did work in a library on Saturdays when I
was at school (I used to help run activity sessions for under-7s, on
Tuesdays and Thursdays, when I left school, too - storytime on a Tuesday
morning and music on a Thursday morning).
Just out of interest, how old /do/ you think I am? ;o)
