How can I easily transfer word and excel files ito the contacts in oultook (I
don't want to maually input them all!).

Just launch Outlook's import Wizard to see what file types it can import.
There are ample Help files and KB articles to tell you the steps to use.

Do you want to transfer the files themselves or the contents of those files?

Ditto. I was told that I can store / access my word docs and excel xls in
Outlook much and use Outlook to manage web, word and excell activity - all
from within outlook...but how?

That seems highly inefficient to me. Outlook's data store format isn't
well-suited, in my opinion, to hold WIndows file system objects.

I agree. This started with Outlooks "web" tool bar which opens web pages in
Outlooks reading pane. An associate of the boss saves everything from MS
office to Outlook folders but Word, Excel, etc opens in a new window. He
wants everthing to open in the reading pane as does web pages. I heard this
is possible but have yet to find out how. Thanks.

I don't believe that's possible, unless you have Outlook 2007 and a
Previewer specific to the type of document.

Thanks Brian. Can you confirm that if we purchase Outlook 2007 we can then
open office files in the readin pane?
