% Work Complete does not roll up.

Hi,

Hoping to find the answer here.
My problem is that when I manually type in a value in % work complete
it does not update to the sub tasks.

Does this not work in MS Project like % complete?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi gerraldpeters,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Well... summaries are summarizing the data of its tasks. So you've got it
the wrong way round - enter %Work Complete for each task, not summaries, and
Project will work out the data for the summary. If you want the figures to
show on the Gantt Chart, use Format/Bar Styles... select summary and then
the Text tab. Select where you want the data to show and select % Work
Complete for the pick list.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Mike,

Thank you for you reply.
I think you miss understood me.

Pls see example

- 0% Work complete Summary
10% Work complete Task1
20% Work complete Task2

Should summary now not be something like 15%
This does not work.

Hope this makes more sense
Once again thanks.

Do you have Calculations Mode set to Manual ? If so hit F9 to recalculate
or set the mode to auto.

That updates OK on my Project setup. How/where are you entering the data?
