A WIZARD TO EXPORT PUBLISHER TEMPLATE FOR USE BY WORD etc

Publisher would be more useful if the reports and assorted graphics etc could
be used by Word to input text, to save, print a email _ has this been done?

If it did that, why would you use Publisher at all? Although there are
similarities between the two programs, they do have two separate purposes.

MS Publisher is a DeskTop Publishing (DTP) program.. it enables you to
produce all kinds of specialist documents..

For example.. you are the secretary of a local 'Brownie' troop and it is
your job to produce a newsletter.. everybody has submitted articles, but you
are still waiting on the pictures..

So you have laid out the text frames and picture frames, all text is typed
in and ready to roll.. the pictures come into the office and 'STOP PRESS'..
you import the pics into the frames that have been previously placed.. ok..
start the press again (or HP 5150).. within minutes, you have copies of the
newsletter streaming off, perfectly laid, and ready for distribution.. way
to go.. this is how a DTP program works..

Now look at how an office secretary using Word, and a taped dictation
machine and headset, rolling off letters to this person and that person.. a
quick mail merge, print the envelopes.. through the franking machine and in
the post box before 5:30pm..

He/she doesn't have time to lay out frames, and she is not waiting on any
other input for the letters.. as long as the text streams and wraps around
before the margin..

The two programs are very different.. the mechanics of how input is treated
are very different..

The trick is to be able to identify from the features of each program which
one would be most suitable for whatever it is that you want to produce..

Brownies come in 'packs', not 'troops' - that's Scouts. I was a Tawny
Owl for four years.

The image of a poor young boy being attacked by a pack of wild animals in
yellow sweatshirts just appeared in my mind...

Silly, silly people! Brownies come in pans - preferably with chopped walnuts
or, better yet, a layer of cheesecake. (DRAT! Now I'm hungry!)

Poor young boy? You must have been a scout, Ed - they're older than
Brownies (11-15 vs 7-10).

I wasn't thinking of a scout, just a poor young boy.

(I was never a scout, but I was a beaver and cub scout)
