Access can't open the Zoom box

Hello,

I'm using Access 2003 under Win XP Pro.

When I press shift-F2 to see what's in a memo field in a table, I'm now
getting the message, "Microsoft Office Access can't open the Zoom Box. / The
Microsoft Office Access Utility add-in is missing or was modified. Rerun
Microsoft Office Access or Microsoft Office Setup to reinstall Microsoft
Office Access and the Microsoft Office Access Utility add-in."

I shut down Access and restrated it. The problem remained.

I went to Add/Remove Programs, selected MS Office 2003, clicked "Change,"
then selected repair. The wizard reported completing the repair successfully.
The problem remained.

I went to Add/Remove Programs, selected MS Office 2003, clicked "Change,"
then selected install/uninstall components. I uninstalled Access, then went
back again and reinstalled it. The wizard reported completing the unistall
and the install successfully. The problem remained.

In Access, I went to the Tools menu and ran the Add-in Manager. There was
nothing in the menu of available add-ins. I clicked on "Add New ...", which
brought up an Open box set in a folder called "AddIns", which is empty.

What else can I do to fix the problem in Access so that the Zoom box works
again? My memo fields are going to be very hard to work with if I can't
easily see and work with what's in them.

Thanks for your help.

When I use Add-In manager, it's not showing in the window either. However if
I navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11, it's there.

Based on this, I went back to Add-in Manager, clicked on "Add New ...",
navigated to the folder you indicated, selected "Utility.MDA", and clicked
"Open". Then the "Available Add-ins" menu included "Microsoft Access
Utilities" with an "x" next to it. I clicked "Close", pressed shift-F2, and
got the same error as before. I then went back to the Addi-in Manager and the
"Available Add-ins" menu was again empty. I tried doing the install this way
several times and it always disappeared. I did a cold reboot and tried it
again and I still have no zoom box and the Utilities add-in will not stay in
the "Available" menu.

I guess I'll have to reinstall Office from scratch, unless somebody has
another suggestion.

With Access shut down, put the following in the Start, Run window and see if
this fixes it. It will reregister the wizard. Make sure that you put in the
right path to the file.

regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\utility.mda"

Make sure that you have the correct path. Read more about it at:
