Access in Groove

R

roccogrand

I created this thread in the Access and SharePoint communities with no luck,
so here it goes to the Groove community.

I would like to add Access files to Groove workspaces.

My questions follow.

How well does Groove play with Access? Comments about personnal experiences
will be appreciated.

Are there any file size limitations that I need to know about? That is,
Should I try to keep the Access files less than a certain size? What is that?

Are there any data conflicts that I need to know about? That is, Does Groove
resolve data conflicts in Access 2007 the way that it does with Word 2007 by
creating a copy of the database when it recognizes a conflict?

What is the best way to implement an Access audit trail with Groove?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure that using Groove to share Access databases is part of best
practices.
There's a risk for you to encounter conflicts and it will not be really easy
to resolve them.

If your need is to share structured data through Groove, maybe could you
have a look to Forms (InfoPath Forms or Groove Forms)
These tools are not really a database system (no primary key, no
relations...etc) but synchronization is done entry by entry, avoiding in
most of the case conflicts like the ones you may encounter by sharing an
full Access file.

Thanks.

I guess Access was left out in the cold again. But I will try testing it
with some friends.
