access rights

Hello,

I have a simple question. We are using SharePoint Portal Server 2003 with
Active Directory.

I have a sharepoint list. That contains many items.

Each item is assigned to a sharepoint user.

We would like every user to see everyone else's items.

But only the user assigned should be able to edit the item.

Is there an access rights thing that can be used to do this?

thanks

I believe this is only possible if the users are entering in the items
themselves. You can setup a custom list with item level permissions that
will allow readers to read all items and edit only the items that they
created. I do not believe there is a way for a list to read who the item is
assigned to then allow that user to edit the item.
