Accidental File Replace

Two files had the same name, and without thinking it through, I clicked the
file replace. Now I need the other file back. How do I recover it? I tried
system restore, but the same file remains.
I'm using Windows XP- Home Edition and Microsoft Office 2003--Word

You overwrote the file when you OK'd replacing. Only a backup of the original
will help here.
