adding watermarks to a text document

S

Sheryl Shelvin

I am trying to figure out how to insert a picture as a
watermark into a text document such as a letter. I know
that there is a specific toolbar that has this option but
I can't remember which one it is. If anyone can't help I
would really appreciate it.

In Word 2002, it's Format | Background | Printed Watermark. In earlier
versions, you have to do this by hand. You open the header (View | Header
and Footer) and insert a graphic anchored to the header paragraph. Change
the wrapping to Behind Text and the Color (or whatever it is) setting to
Watermark or Washout, then put the picture where you want it on the page.
Word's Help has pretty detailed instructions under "Create a watermark."
