I am trying to convert certain files in Publisher to PDF files using the Adobe Distiller. Most files work ok, but certain ones that have a lot of data crash publisher every time. This is not just on one terminal. The same error occurrs with the same files on other terminals in our office. What could be some possible causes and solutions? Thanks.

Print the Publisher files to the Adobe Generic Postscript printer driver,
then use Distiller to create the PDF.

Thank you for the suggestion. Sadly, the Adobe Generic PostScript printer driver did not work. Here are the specs:

Adobe Acrobat 5.0
Adobe Acrobat Distiller 5.0
Publisher 2000
Windows 98 Second Edition

The error is caused by trying to print to the Acrobat Distiller from Publisher
The error is an illegal operation shut down error:
"MSPUB caused a general protection fault in module GDI.EXE"

Any more tips?

That is easily fixed.

Go to the website of your video card manufacturer and download and install
the latest version of the video driver making sure you have the correct
model and type of your video card.

These issues are a pain when they are unknown.
Sadly, we are at the end of what we can suggest.
There are no issues at all printing from any version of Publisher, and
normally a GDI error would always point to the video driver.
I have never heard of any issues with the Adobe Generic printer driver.
The only thing you can do, and I can virtually guarantee it will work, is to
start Windows in SAFE MODE and then create the PDF file.
Post back with the result.

After managing to set up OE-QuoteFix on his new PC, Ed reads a message
from Don Schmidt said:
Add me to the list of converting large pub files to pdf. Over the
last couple of years have converted several files exceeding 20 mb.
But I don't use the spendy Acrobat, I use PDF-XChange. And it's a
one step speedy operation. At Donald's station, "If you can hear
light, it's us." Shazam! Darn! Now my cape is in the way.

If we're making a list, you can add me to it
I converted a 300+MB file to PDF last year.
I also created a 3gb PostScript file using the Distiller driver a couple of
weeks ago, but it refused to distill

I was able to install the latest video driver for my system, but the same error occurrs. I was able to get it created in safe mode, however, without error. Who else should I try to contact next about fixing this, if you can offer nothing else

Thank you for your help! It is very appreciated!
