DTS is a part of SQL Server that automates the export or import of
data. This could be a component of a Project Server archiving
solution, but there will still have to be quite a bit of development
independent of this to get other components up and going.

DTS will only address the automated export of portions of the
database. You still need to figure out what portions of the DB and how
to treat those: For example: when you export a project to archive,
should all tasks and time entries associated with that project
disappear from production? If you export to archive how will you
handle the many possibilities of Custom Enterpise Fields that change
after export (if something is deleted, for example, in the production
database, or if a title is changed, does any of that map to the
archived project?

There is a third party product to manage some of this for 2003. I
don't recall the name off the top of my head though. Let me know if a
quick web search doesn't turn it up.
