Arrows on PERT chart in wrong direction for SF link

G

Guy Montgomery

Hi,

I have a PERT chart with some milestones which have SF
links with negative lag from tasks that succeed them. I am
doing this to indicate that as the tasks are delayed, the
delivery milestones can slip. What I had hoped was that on
the PERT chart the arrows would point fom the start of the
task box to the end of the milestone box. Instead they come
from the end of the task box to the start of the milestone
box, which looks odd, as it seems to imply the milestone is
a successor to the task, not the other way round. Is there
a way to make the arrows do what I want,

Thanks,

Guy Montgomery.

Hello Guy,
I think you would have better to use a FS link from the end of the milestone to the start of the
task, with a positive lag. And may be shedule the milestone As Late As Possible.

Gerard,

Thanks for the reply. However, if I do what you say the
task following the milestone gets delayed. What I want is
that the task in question will follow immediately from its
predecessor, and then the milestone will be scheduled to 5
days before the successor task. That is what the SF link
allowed me to do, without the successor task getting delayed.
