auto calculation not staying as default

Carla

I have a client whose default calculation setting is manual. He has tried to
change it to auto and save and set as default, but whenever he goes back into
project it's back to manual. Mine did the same thing but others are working.
We have 2003. Any ideas how to fix that?

THANKS!

Does that happen with all projects or just that one? What happens if
he creates a new file, makes sure the calculation is set to auto,
saves the file, and then re-opens it.

Yes this is with brand new ones as well. I created a new one and changed that
option and saved it and brought back up and it was back to manual. Thanks!

Hi Carla,

As it is appearing on a new project, I would suspect a problem with the
global template (global.mpt.)
Have you tried Help>Detect and Repair?

Hope this helps.

Yes I did that first. Maybe I should reinstall it. It's odd because it's
happening to 3 of us but no one else. Thanks!

Hi Carla,

Before you reinstall I suggest searching for the Global.mpt file and
renaming the file. Re-start project and it may successfully re-create a
global.mpt file.

Are you working in a network situation where the Global.mpt file resides on
a network and cannot be overwritten? I have seen odd behavior where it is
impossible to save changes to Global.mpt

If not, I would try a re-install.

That file is located locally and not on a server or anything. I renamed it
and created a new project, set the calc to automatic, saved and closed. When
I reopened it was back to manual. :(

Thanks,

Hi Carla,

Okay. Well, those thoughts didn't work. I don't if you have tried
re-installing but I would also want to make sure you are running SP-1 on MS
Project before re-installing. If all else fails -- re install.

Let us know how you get along.
