Sylvia,

How are you creating the pdf file? In Acrobat, there are a couple of
settings you can change.

I am saving a doc as postscript file and sending as PDF
file to someone to make film and they forward to a
commercial printer. They are telling me that the black
imprint is printing as 79% black not 100%. I have tried
setting up commercial printing options as black and white
and tried sending as grayscale. I am obviously setting
something incorrectly and don't realize until they print
out on their postscrit printer. I am just a home
business and only use an inkjet printer so i don't see
the problem. At one time it was correct and I must have
changed something along the way. I am using pub 2003 and
windows xp. any help would be appreciated they are very
frustrated with me and can offer no advice.

Thanks,
Sylvia

Sylvia,

In the properties of Acrobat, click on the Graphics tab, then make sure
both the Convert Gray Text and Convert Gray graphics to PS Gray are checked.

Mike thanks for the reply. I cannot however find where i
can get into acrobat properties. it is not highlighted
in edit properties.

is there a way i could speak to someone on the phone (i
know how archaic) about my publisher issues. i am trying
to run a small business and i need to figure out what it
is i am doing wrong, i have a sense of urgency. the
people that produce the film and the printer that
ultimately prints the imprint on the shell we designed do
not know how to use publisher and are not interested in
learning. changing to new film/ printer resources is not
an option right now so i need someone to speak to that
does understand publisher that can walk me through this
stuff so i understand what needs to be done.

is someone out there willing to try and help me out. we
chose publisher because it is easy to use. the graphics
piece was easy to figure out, but the commercial printing
side has really been frustrating.

thanks,
Sylvia

Sylvia,

I got to it via Start/Printers/Acrobat Distiller then right clicking on
Properties.

Mike I know you are trying to help. i feel like an idiot
but I do not have start/printers. i did look under
start/control panel/printers....found the acrobat distiller
printer but there is no graphics tab. is there someone
that can talk to me live? i now this has to be a simple
solution. why do the pdf's transmit correctly sometimes as
100% black and other times at 80% black? I use the same
"template" every time. it is copied from the original and i
only make word changes. i need to find a permanent fix.....

thanks,
sylvia
