Calculate Duration form start and endDate

S

sulvador

Hi all,

I would like to set the start and end date of a Task so MSProject will
calculate the duration. What happens know is that MSProject ignores
the startDate and calculates it from the endDate minus the Duration
(wich is 0)...

1) Can I 'tell' MSProject to calculate the duration from the start and
endDate
or
2) How can I calculate the duration from the start and endDate???

Thanks in advance,
Rick Oosterholt

Hi,

I do not know whether Project does any calculation directly to the data
base, I am a fanatic .mpp user
But I am pretty sure project will not, under any circumstance, calculate
duration as the difference between finish and start.
You can program it yourself in the database or otherwise but Project does
not do this, that is not how it works.
To the contrary, entering both a start date and a finish date may give very
curious results depending on which you introduce first.
