David, David, David,
Did you really, in you wildest hallucinations, presume for a nanosecond
that I would let such an utter misuse of electrons and pathetic
misstatements of facts go unanswered? Or did you post it to give me
something to reply to? Either way, the end result is similar.
I have no doubt that in their spare time, some GIs sit around playing
cards, folding paper into planes and doing other things normal human
beings do. Then they go out and risk their lives, without giving it a
second thought, to try to make life better for those they are assigned
to protect/liberate. They take care of others who are incapable, wither
because of circumstance or fear to take of themselves. They give people
around the world the ability to live with dignity, without fear, in a
better condition than they were used to under the tyrants or dictators
who lorded over them as used them as slaves.
Not skilled? Failures to get a job in the real world? What UFO did you
in yesterday. Many of the men and women serving in the Armed Forces in
active duty are fully employed, as teachers, doctors, cooks, engineers,
salesmen, nurses, mechanics - the list is as long as the gamut of
careers available. They are not high school drop outs, bums or society's
flotsam. They have to pass aptitude and IQ tests to get into the
military, and they require a person to above average intelligence in
several different areas. Please, if you don't know what you are talking
about, let people think you are ignorant. Don't type erroneous messages
and remove all doubt from their mind.
Furthermore, most employers will look at four years experience in the
military and figure it is worth 8-10 years employment in the private
sector. Why? Because in the military, soldiers, sailors or marines are
working - a full shift, every day, every hour, every minute. They do
things for the good of each other and the country and people they serve,
not so they can get a bonus at the end of the year. What happens if they
perform at an extraordinary level, one that most people in the private
sector would never consider doing unless they are paid time and a half
or double time - they get a tiny insignia to place on their uniform.
That and $1 will get them a cup of coffee at the PX.
I could care less if you have any respect for people who risk their
lives protecting others, who earn about 1/6 of what they could in the
private sector, people who put their lives on hold and endure all kinds
of hardships. But if you think you can post the stuff you have and not
get a response, you do not know me.
I close with this quote: "Always will we remember the character of the
onslaught against us. No matter how long it may take us to overcome
this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might
will win through to absolute victory."
Always will we have respect for the men and women serving to defend and
protect us. Always will we have scorn for those who denigrate these men
and women. Always will I defend them.
But you know this.
Merry Christmas,
Mike
