cannot convert to pdf

I am trying to save my pub 2007 file as a pdf. I can't. If I try to write to
a CD-R, it tells me "the disc in the drive is not writeable or is full."
Neither is the case, and I have tried a couple of discs. If I try to save the
file to either my F:\ drive (also a CD-R drive) OR if I try to save it to my
computer, it tells me that the drive/folder is inaccessible or the filename
might have a | \ / in it, etc. Can anyone help? Thank you.

1 - you don't save to a pdf, you PRINT to it. The pdf writer will appear as
a printer when you go to select your printer you'll select the pdf driver.
You then save it somewhere on your hardrive.

2- you don't save to a CD you BURN to it. So after you've created your pdf
you then will BURN the file to your CD with whatever burner software you
normally use.

I may be slightly different with Pub 2007 - dunno as I haven't installed it
yet. - but the above are general principles

With the proper software, one can SAVE to a CD just like one can save
to another disc.

Yes. I have installed all the possible MS add-ins. When I look at Tools/
Add-ins,
nothing is listed. How do I add the pdf add-in? It seems someone else tried
that, but it still didn't solve the problem.
I tried using PrimoPDF but it won't install on my computer ofr some reason.

One time it says it wouldn't install. A second time, it said it installed,
but when I go to the program file area, it shows only the User Manual and
Uninstall. No exec file.

I assume you've downloaded Primo and tried to install it. What, if any,

Also, I converted to pdf via another route in Publisher (Publsih as pdf or
xps), but two of my pictures have some strange overlay (that isn't in the
original file--I checked) and my logo (a simple line-art jpeg file) looks
really shaky--it looks great in the pub file, and so do the pictures.

The error message was; "I won't install"...?
What OS are you using? If XP are you logged in as Admin?

xp. I don't actually log in to the computer as I'm the only one that uses it.
But I think I am automatically on as HP Adminstrator. That is where most of
my files get saved.

With Primo you "print" a PDF not save.
Can you send the file to me, I will convert it with Acrobat.

Yes, much like a Kinko's file prep tool would. The thing is, it doens't
prompt me to save it. I am going to reinstall it for the third time and see
if it works.

As I have mentioned in this group before (possibly in the thread you
reference), the PDF add-in doesn't appear in Tools > Add-ins as it is
not a COM add-in, just a modification that enables Publisher's PDF code.

The Save As PDF feature is available on the File menu.

You cannot/should not save directly to a CD. Some software allows this
(sort of) but this normally causes more harm than good.

Wait! You don't "save" to Primo.

Yes, but when printing to PDF the PDF application normally prompts for a
location to save the resulting PDF, which is I think what lindalou was
asking about.

Line-art and JPEG are a disgusting mix. Line art should be in a vector
format; failing that, PNG or TIFF. JPEG is for photographic images, on
line art it will bloat filesizes and smudge edges. Publisher's PDF
driver may be recompressing the images, too, which will not help.
