cannot open file in Publisher 2003

I just installed Publisher 2003 on my computer and when I try to open a file
created using Publisher 2003 it first says it can't locate the file. It lets
me browse to the location, then when I click on the filename it say
"Publisher cannot open the file." This happens with files created on my
computer and with files created on other computers.

Have you installed all of the applicable patches/updates? Are you running
Norton Anti-virus?

I have installed the Office updates and I am running Norton antivirus
Corporate Edition. I have suspected that the problem could be from the
antivirus, but I haven't been able to find the settings to fix it.

Try disabling Script Blocking and the Microsoft Office Plug-In in NAV.

Don't worry if you can't find these features - they are not in most versions
of the Corporate Edition (or if they are, they aren't user-customizable).
If the files are less than a few megs in size, e-mail me one and I'll see if
I can open it.

That's what happens when you don't use Norton at all any longer, much less a
Corporate Edition.

Do a "detect and repair." Is the file on a network drive? Copy it to your local drive
and try to open the document.

In Publisher, help, detect and repair. Publisher does not do well on a network.
Do you have an anti-virus application? Might disable it.
