Color Graphic changes to gray

I

Ivan

I have a color graphic which I scanned into my computer. I have tried copying
and pasting, inserting it as a graphic into Publisher 2003, but it changes to
gray scale when I publish as a .pdf for the web. Any suggestions on how to
keep the color in the .pdf document?

Thanks.

A .tif? Can you save the image in another format in an editing program? Does
that work?

I've tried .jpg, .png. and .tif. It doesn't make any difference; each of them
comes in gray scale!

Just wondering which program you
are using to create the .pdf?

I use Adobe Acrobat Distiller. The graphic loses its color when I insert or
paste it in Publisher 2003. It doesn't wait until I create the .pdf file.

Since the graphic changes to grayscale as
soon as it's inserted or pasted into Publisher...
I would suspect that you may have an outdated
or corrupt video driver.

Have a look at the following articles;

I do not have distiller installed so I cannot check..

Do you have Distiller set as your default printer??
Is Distiller set to Black or Grayscale rather than ColoUr.

Try changing the default settings.

Now the OP states that the graphic
converts to grayscale as soon as it's
inserted into the Publisher document.
Could that be related to the Distiller
settings or would you suspect video
driver issues?

Also check under Tools > Commercial Print Tools > Color Printing and
make sure that RGB Composite (or possibly CMYK Composite if you're
heading for commercial print) is selected.

Yes Ed's suggestion about Commercial tools is true and will take effect as
soon as the picture is inserted.
I installed Distiller and found its settings do not affect the coloUr untill
you look at print preview.
