copy & paste files from open dialog box

Hi all

I am using word 2003 and I put it into startup folder,
But if I want to copy or cut any file or folder (even if I using shortcuts)
I can't do that until I open any folder or my computer (using windows
explorer) after that I can use copy / cut / paste commands as usual
However, I haven't this problem in using excel or access

Can I resolve this problem?
