copy&paste problem

You said "Take a backup copy to new media."
Do you mind explaining this in more detail for me?
I would certainly appreciate it, because I don't know what that means.

Does it mean I can copy the MS Office 2000 CDs, and burn me a new one?
Or do I back up Office 2000 on my hard drive (which I also don't know how to
do), and then burn a new CD?

Yes. Stick the CD in the drive (if you have two drives and only one is
writeable, use the non-writeable one unless you experience problems),
start your CD burning software, tell it to copy it. (Insert a blank CD
when prompted - when you do this depends on how many drives you have.)

Obviously this does require a CD writer.
