Creating resource pool from multiple project plans

I created three project plans sharing a resource pool. The resource pool
project plan got corrupted (I am assuming since I couldn't open it) so I
created a nbew one and refreshed from the project plan. This overwrote the
resources as the new ID's did not match the ones in the plans. I've since
detached the plans from the resource pool and cleaned them up. Can I create
a resource pool from these three plans to share resources without
encountering the same problem? BTW, the 3 plans do not currently have an
duplicate resources.

When you connect to a resource pool, local resources are either copied to
the pool, or replaced by identically named resources already in the pool.
Either way their unique ID will change and the usually get a new id number
as well.

Be very careful with pools, NEVER:
over-write linked files
move linked files
delete a linked file without having the pool open and then save BOTH the
pool and the file. Information about the link is saved in the linked files
AND the pool and if the information isn't changed in both at the same time,
corruption happens sooner or later.

Hi Baba
Create the new resource file and share it with the required files files. It
should have no tasks, only resources.
Tools, Share Resources and set to "pool takes precedence" and ensure the
drop down includes the files you intended.
Also ensure that the old files are still not connected by checking both the
respool and the old files i nTools Resoures/Resource Sharing
All calendar setting should be done within this respool file.
This should work fine for what you are doing. I woud password protect the
Respool file, to preclude schedule owners from adding resources themselves.
This should stop most of the problems Mike was mentioning from occurring. The
respool needs to be managed centrally. I also set all calendars in the
respool file. On most occasions there is no need to open the respool file for
update when editing the schedules. This shoud be done weekly by the PM or
administrator.
