cursor jumps around while typing

It occurs in all Office 2007 applications. It will randomly jump in the
middle of a word. It happened once before, but I don't remember how I fixed
it. Can anyone help? It is not a touch pad issue. Is it an issue with Windows
or with Office? How can I fix it. I just happened again while typing this
message. Very aggrivating.

This can be a hardware problem. If the problem happens infrequently,
and you use Office applications most of the time, it wouldn't be
unreasonable to believe the problem is due to Office rather than
something else.

If you're using a laptop with a touchpad mouse, it's even more likely
to be a hardware problem.

So what's your hardware setup?

I think this is more likely to be a hardware problem than a software
one. See if the problem persists when they mouse is on a different
surface than your keyboard. Wireless mice and touchpad mice can be
oversensitive to slight movements. That's what I suspect. If the
problem doesn't persist when the mouse is on a different surface, then
it's almost certainly the mouse jumping around from the impact of your
typing being transferred to the surface holding your keyboard and from
there to your mouse. If so, there may be no perfect fix, but you may
want to try making your mouse less sensitive to movement.

Thanks for trying, but I am quite certain that it has nothing to do with the
mouse or the touch pad.

Since last post I disabled the touchpad. Same problem. I bought a new mouse
of a different brand. Same problem. Very irritating.

Some folks have had issues if the microphone is turned on. Try turning it
off and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for your suggestion. I am surprised that Microsoft hasn't posted a fix
since so many people have the problem. Regardless, after looking further, I
think I found a solution. I downloaded and installed a free program called
"Touchfreeze". It apparently momentarily disables the touchpad while you are
typing. It has been over a day so far and the problem has not recurred.

If it is the touchpad, then it could be more of a hardware issue and not a
Microsoft issue. Don't know, just speculating...
