Date Range Work Formula

M

Martin H

I'm trying to create a formula to calulate the number of work hours for a
given period of time (e.g., October 1, 2005 to October 31, 2005) based on the
resources assigned to a particular task as well as their specific calendar.
I've tried out various date functions but can't figure this out. Any help
would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Martin,

The Resource Usage view, with a month by month timescale, doesn't show what
you want ?

Not Really. Ultimately what I'm trying to get to is a view that shows by
task, the number of FTE's needed broken down by total and by month. I've been
able to calculate and FTE for the year because I can create a formula using
the total work field. I'm not able to create my formula broken down by month
because I'm not able to calculate the work being performed for a specific
range of time.

I have been able to export the Resource Usage view into excel and perform my
calculations there but I'd like to be able avoid doing that each time I want
to see the data by FTE.

You will have to leave formulas behind and work with VBA to do this.
Look in the project VBA help for timescaledata and timescalevalues.

Hello,

Exactly where should one look for help with timescale data, etc. and using
VBA to perform these functions? I am having the same problem that "Martin H"
had back in June.

Thanks so much,

Hilary

Hi Hilary S.,

To get to VBA help you need to show the VBA editor. Go to Tools> Macro >
Visual Basic Editor. Once the VB Editor starts, click the Help menu from
there.

You may also like to view the resources available at:
www.mvps.org/Project
Click VBA in either the top menu or the side. On the Links and Download
page (bottom of the page) there is also a link to "Project 98 Visual Basic
Environment Training Materials".

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie et al,

Thanks so much for your help. I unfortunately need more help... :). Have
you (or has anyone else) written a macro to perform this function (to
calculate the total number of work hours assigned in a given period of time)?
I've looked on Jack's macro webpage (which is fantastic and has proven
extremely helpful wrt other issues), but haven't found anything that does
this. Sorry -- am a little new to VBA stuff.

Thanks so much again,

Hilary
