Difference between task view and resource view

Thomas

Dear all,

why are there differences between scheduled work in task and resource
view within the project client?
This occurs when I try to compare work variance (work MINUS scheduled
work) in the task view (e.g. GANTT) and within the resource view! The
values are different!
Before that I have saved a baseline and added some tasks (without
resources --> no work!!!) and did not update the baseline. Somehow I
now see these differences...other values for scheduled work in resource
view than in task view!?!??!?

Thanks,
Thomas

In the future, please post your Project Server questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is dedicated to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question:

1. In any Task view, such as the Gantt Chart view or Task Usage view, the
system gives you task information from only the active project.

2. In a Resource view, such as the Resource Usage view, the system gives
you resource information for the active project PLUS every other project to
which each team member is assigned at least one task. This is the default
behavior of the Resource Usage view when used in a Project Server
environment.

Focus on the "Resolution for Project Server 2003" section of the following
FAQ to solve your problem:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/ViewResourceInformationForActiveProject.htm

Hope this helps.
