Disable the formatings

I wish to disable the formatings like Heading1, Normal etc. Requirement is that another user should not change the formatings of my word document. Pls explain the steps which i need to follow inorder to accomplish this.

This is impossible.
There is *no* way to prevent a user, who you wish to view your document'
from editing it in any way he/she wants. The best you can manage is to
supply it as a protected pdf, for which you would need additional software,
but even that is not insurmountable. If you can see it you can copy it.

Can't be done. Create a PDF if you don't want people to change your
document.

Disable editing doc(incl formating)

I had received a document(extn doc) which had disabled all the formatings. Infact, file menu options, certain options in view menu and Unprotect Document option of Tools menu are enabled. Other options related to editing are disabled, so that no user can edit the document. Since, Unprotect Document option is enabled, I doubt that its something related to Document Protection. Furthermore, while opening the document, it does not alert to enter passwords.
Given the scenario, pls throw some insight on the same

Since the document is confidential, i cannot attach it

Actually I believe Word 2003 does have some style protection, but that still
doesn't stop a user from copying the document and changing it.

The fact that Unprotect Document is available means that the document is
protected, which is why these features are disabled. If you unprotected it,
they would be reenabled. If the document were protected and required a
password to remove the protection, a layer of protection would be added. But
all protection is removed if you merely insert the file into a new blank
document.
