document sharing in word on internet?

Is this possible?
I am working on a project with my friend and it would be nice to have
the same document open at the same time. It seems odd that this
feature is not easily available.
I have tried on an intranet that several users can open the same
document but only one can save. Is this possible on the internet?
The best would be that both persons could edit and save

If you have an ftp directory somewhere, you should be
able to access it from My Network Places and save
documents to it just as you would a shared folder on a
network.

Sorry, that last post wasn't right, but if you post the
file to a www site you should all be able to open the
file, and anyone who has the ftp password (or anyone at
all if you give everyone permission to write to the file
and the directory, which would be insecure, but would
work) obvisouly can save and copy the file back to the
site via ftp.

Hi Dalle,

Only one person can edit a single copy of a Word document.
You can use the Sharepoint Services, document routing and
collaboration features to work on documents in a group.
