Double-clicking ppt file doesn't open the file

Al Waschka

Powerpoint has stopped opening double clicked .ppt files.
When I double click a .ppt file, power point opens, but
opens to the same file selection dialog that appears when
starting powerpoint alone. Can anyone point me to a fix?

Thanks

It sounds like your file association has possibly been changed and is
defaulting to "New". Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options >
File Types. Locate PPT and select it. Click on Advanced. If "New" is in
bold type, that is your problem. Select "Open" and then click on "Set
Default" and then click OK, OK. Now test it and let us know if it works.

It would appear that your file associations have slipped a cog.
