I recently just upgraded to the new version of entourage.. after some connection issues (had to change server settings), i finally was able to get connected.

However, now every time i try and send mail i get an error.

"Unexpected data was encountered."

Explanation: mail could not be sent.
Account name "JBExchange"

Error: - 17997

any idea?

I am having the exact same problem. I'm getting email updates from the exchange server. But I can't check send/recieve without getting the Error - 17997.

BTW- updated to 10.5.8 just before removing Office and reinstalling.

Very frustrating.

Macbook Pro, 10.5.8.

I have tried re-installing and restarting after every install (1st office, 2nd update, etc). No joy, still get the error -17997.

I'm hosed as far as using Entourage 13 for email. I've gone back to Mail.app.

I just started getting the error as well, but it wasn't until after we
cranked up a new server 2008 Domain Controller. I am also having
problems unlocking the screensaver while actively connected to the
network. Cached credentials work fine, so I can unplug and log in,
then plug back in. I know my account is not locked out, as I am in
IT, and have authority over accounts... Doing some reading, it appears
there was an issue that prevented unix-based computer accounts from
joining active directory in server 2008... so I wonder if our upgrade
broke the AD connection.

This might be overkill for this thread, but here is the blog post FYI.

Hope this info helps at all. Other than this, Entourage Web Services
is a vast improvement, including task and notes sync with outlook over
exchange.
