Entourage 2008 Inbox sync against Exchange

I am trying not to install windows AT ALL on my new Mac, so I recently
switched from Outlook to Entourage to use with my corporate Exchange
server. I am sorry if this is a newbie question.

So far the Entourage works fine with downloading and syncing the
emails. However if I go look at the exchange server through the web
mail client, the mails I deleted are NOT moved to the deleted folder,
but still sit in my inbox. I thought I had a setup issue, however it
seems that it DOES sync properly once a day. About once a day the
folders are synced (deleted items in trash, inbox only the inbox in
Entourage), but 99% of the time the changes I make in Entourage are
NOT reflected back to the server (at least not fast enough) no matter
what I do from the Entourage Client.

This drives me NUTS as I use a few other devices against the same
exchange server and thus have to re-delete everything the moment I
stop using Entourage.

I must have something set up wrong :)

Entourage syncs the Inbox every few seconds, and other folders every few
minutes. If it's syncing less often than that, I would blame some kind of
connection issue.

Are you connecting to the server address directly, or are you using the OWA
address? Are you on your corporate network or another?

Although you're using an Exchange Server are you sure you're connecting
as an Exchange account? It sounds almost like IMAP.

Is this a private company server or a hosted Exchange Server? What
version of Exchange Server? Can you verify that it's fully patched? Are
you using an internal backend Exchange Server address (preferred if
you're on the same private network as the server) or are you using a
fontend Outlook Web Access (OWA) address?

Hosted Exchange Server
Version = 2000 fully patched
OWA address (no VPN)

So I am NOT on the same network and using OWA. Entourage tells me its
syncing folders all the time, it just isn't showing up on the server.

Since this is a hosted solution it will be harder to troubleshoot. We'll
want any variables that could cause the problem out of the way.

1. Is your Mac a laptop? If so, do you get the same results when you
move between locations such as work, home and a coffee house?

2. Does someone else in your office have an Exchange account on the same
server? If you set up that person to connect with Entourage on your Mac
to his account does he see the same thing?

3. Try creating a new Mac OS X account on your Mac. Then set up
Entourage again for Exchange in that account. Does anything change?
